In order to continue to provide opportunities of development for our students and our community, we need to ensure financial longevity that will supersede the life of our initial donor businesses, companies, and individuals. The Endowment Pillar will allow us to continually collect funds that can be applied to Scholarships and other enrichment activities for our students.
The focus of this pillar is to raise money to provide and bolster opportunities for students within the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District related to Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. This will ultimately look like hands-on after-school programs, cross-curricular instruction and workshops led by STEM organizations during the school day, week-long immersive camps during the summer and internship/career exploration trips with local partners in the respective fields.
This pillar will support the exciting and innovative work that our teachers are doing in the classroom to continue to make learning engaging, exciting, and equitable. Each year, teachers or students/families who apply on a teacher’s behalf, can apply for this fund, detailing what their classroom may be lacking and the wonderful experiences teachers have provided for their students without it. Grants will be awarded to teachers who demonstrate the greatest need and passion for providing education.
The Life 101 Program Pillar is designed to address students’ success in the world after high school. This program will teach students necessary life skills, tips, and tricks to establish healthy habits: budgeting and saving techniques, understanding credit and debt, how to change a tire, home maintenance and other courses. Courses will initially target high school students, but will slowly expand to the middle school grades.
The FSEdF understands the importance of artists and musicians, especially in today’s time of heightened consumption of media. Studies show that children who study a musical instrument are more likely to excel in all of their studies, work better in teams, and have enhanced critical thinking. This pillar will focus on making music education available to students of all ages outside of the classroom. The Visual & Performing Arts Support Initiative will pay for after-school and weekend art and music programs in which students can engage and develop their skills.
